"Since I opened Kapok in 2006, many friends of the store requested that I open a café corner so it was always in the back of my head.”

Arnault, founder of Kapok, comes from Ferrals-les-Corbieres in South of France, believes that opening a café means in some ways going back to the family business – because his great-grandfather was running a small café / restaurant in their small village in France.

“But the café idea really started to take form after two events: First meeting Mr. Eric Duchossoy in Paris. He is running the “Café Verlet” house, a very traditional coffee and tea trader in Paris, with a very nice coffee shop on rue St Honoré.” Being inspired by Mr. Duchossoy, Arnault feels very proud to introduce Verlet teas and coffees to Hong Kong.

“The second event is for sure to discover the space on Sun Street. I am already so happy to operate the first Kapok on St. Francis Yard as the neighbourhood really has a great feeling - really feel at home amongst the other shops, restaurants and the people who live here. And the Sun Street area is ideal for a café. Nearby from Pacific Place and Admiralty, but at the same time - the area is so quiet with no cars and so green with the park just in front of our store. I can't wait for weather to turn a bit warmer and have my coffee on the terrace in front of the shop!”

To go with the great teas and coffees from Verlet, Arnault tried to find the best cakes. For croissants and chocolate croissants, he imports a selection from Saveurs de France that only uses French ingredients with authentic tastes. Moreover, M Bakery which bakes the cupcakes every night will deliver directly to the Kapok café on Sun Street every morning.
